Amid much speculations, Bangladesh Awami League nominated candidate Alhaj ABM Golam Kabir has been unofficially elected Poura Mayor of Betagi Pourashava in the election held on Wednesday.
He got 2156 votes while BNP nominated candidate Humayun Kabir Mallik bagged 1559 votes
Though some untoward incidents were reported, the election was almost free and fair . The election of one polling centre has been suspended. The elected commissioners are: Jayeda Begum and Shahinur Rahman ( Women reserved seat), Nabin Khan, Mizanur rahman Montu, Humaun Sikder , ABM Masudur Rahman , Nitai Chandra Das, Hadisur Rahman Panna, Barun Karmaker and Abdur Rahim Sikder .
