GM Abdullah Al-Rakib of Bangladesh Navy, GM Vahidov Tair of Uzbekistan and Somak Palit of India jointly led the points table with 5 points each after end of the 8th round games of the CJKS-Prime Distributions Group Grandmasters Chess Tournament held at the M. A. Aziz Stadium in Chittagong.
GM Niaz Murshed of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, IM Minhazuddin Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy jointly took the 2nd position with 4½ points each.
8th or penultimate round games were held yesterday (Thursday).
In the 8th round, Rakib drew with Minhaz. Tair drew with FM Sk. Nasir Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy. Somak drew with his home player IM Akshat Khamparia.
Niaz beat FM Kh Aminul Islam of Bangladesh Navy.
IM Abu Sufian Shakil of Dhaka Mohammedan drew with WGM Toma Katarzyna of Poland.
