A 12- year old girl has drowned in a pond at Kalabagan area of Savar adjacent to Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Jannatul Ferdous, student of class six of Jahangirnagar University School and College and daughter of Liakat Ali, a cleaner of JU Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman hall.
Family and local sources said Jannatul Ferdous fell into a pond when playing on its bank in the morning.
She was rescued in critical condition and rushed to JU Medical Centre at 11:00am.
Three on-duty doctors Birendro Kumar Biswas, Samsur Rahman and Mozeza Jahura of JU Medical Centre declared her dead 11:15am.
Sources said that the JU Stuff Liakat Ali hailed from Mohammadpur, Jessore.
