The gazette to put into effect the Eighth National Pay Scale will possibly be issued in the first week of November, says Cabinet Secretary Muhammad Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan. After the regular Cabinet meeting on Monday, he told reporters the Finance Division was preparing the gazette.”But in case it’s not issued this month, it will be issued at the beginning of next month. Usually it takes around one month to issue a gazette,” he added. The government on Sept 7 approved the new pay scale for its employees with a highest basic pay of Tk 78,000 and a minimum of Tk 8,250.The basic pay for officers and other employees would take retroactive effect from July 1 this year, while the allowances would be paid from July 1, 2016. The government employees would get salaries according to the previous scale until the gazette for the new pay scale was issued, said the cabinet secretary on Monday.”If the order says it (new scale) will be effective from July 1 (of 2015), then they will receive arrears from that day,” he said.
