A war crimes convict, who was sentenced to death and remained fugitive for long, died at a house in Fenchuganj upazila on Monday.
After his death the body of Anis Mia, 85 of Rajnagar upazila, was brought to his village in Moulvibazar on Monday morning from Fenchuganj.
Shamsun Nur Ahmed, local UP chairman, said it could not be cleared where Anis Mia breathed his last but it is heard that he died at the house of one of his relative in Fenchuganj upazila. Shyamal Banik, officer-in-charge of Rajnagar Police Station, said a team of police went to his village home and he will be buried in presence of police.
On January 10, a three-member tribunal in the capital sentenced Anis Mia to death for his crimes against humanity.
