The International Organization for Migration (IOM) yesterday organized a friendly football match with the participation of locals and Rohingya people at Leda in Teknaf.
Marking the World Refugee Day, IOM organised the football match. Hugenumber locals and Rohingya spectators were present during the football match.
The two teams of the friendly match Alikhali Blue Team and Alikhali Orange Teamwere formed considering the balance mixture of locals and Rohingyas. The match time ended in draw. Alikhali Orange Team had beaten the Alikhali Blue Team by3-2 goals of the tie-breaker in the friendly football match.
Later, IOM officials handed over match trophy and crest to the players of both teams.
Cox’sBazar Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commission Assistant Camp in-charge ofLeda and Alikhali Rohingya Camp Mohammad Shahajahan was present as the Chief Guest.
Among others, Acting Chairman of Leda Rohingya Camp Mohammad Alam Khan, Chairman of Alikhali Rohingya Camp Rahim Ullah and high officials of IOM were present at the event.
Speaking at the prize giving ceremony, Head ofTransition and Recovery Division (TRD) of IOM Patrick Sharignon said, “to observe the World Refugee Day IOM organized the friendly football match toenhance the friendship, social harmony and coexistence of locals andRohingyas.’
