Amid the continuous load-shedding across the country, the government is going to announce fresh decision about the next course of action soon.
The unabated load shedding has shattered people’s life and the wheels of industries to a great extent.
“We are going to take next steps about the load shedding within 10 days. Our experimentation on load shedding is going on to determine about the next steps. We will declare next schedule next week,” State Minister for the ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid told the journalists in his residence on Friday.
The State Minister also claimed that the situation might improve next year after getting electricity from the Rampal Power Plant.
He said that the government had taken such steps in order to reduce mounting pressure on the reserve.
“Now the government wants to reduce pressure on dollars by saving diesel,” he said.
About the use of diesel, he said, “Only 10 percent diesel is used for electricity consumption, while the rest 90 percent is used for irrigation and transport sector.”
Urging all to be economic in the use of oil and gas, he said, “The demand for gas is going up in the industrial sector. The industries are consuming most of the gas.”
About the load shedding hours, the state minister said, “Right now one hour load shedding is going on. It might be increased in the upcoming days.”
About the load shedding in the rural and urban areas, he said, “The demand of electricity in the urban areas is more compared with the rural areas. In some rural areas, load shedding is effected for three to five hours. We have this matter in our consideration. We will fix what measure can be taken in this regard after one week.”
The minister also said that the government is looking for low cost fuel to meet the growing demand of electricity.
Right now the country is facing about 2000MW load shedding which has been hampering the smooth functioning of different sectors including the industries.
Meanwhile, the business community and the industrialists have urged the government to take appropriate measures to ensure proper supply of electricity to their industries.
They fear if the industries are not run in full swing, the country will face another debacle in the economy.
