Founding anniv of Ittefaq celebrated in Bagerhat

The 65th founding anniversary of the daily Ittefaq, one of the two oldest newspapers of the country was celebrated in Bagerhat district town on Sunday in a befitting manner. In this connection a lively discussion meeting was held in Bagerhat Press Club auditorium in the morning at 11 am with its president Ahad Haidar in the chair.
Nihar Ranjan Saha, Bagerhat district based correspondent of the daily explained in the meeting the need and importance of holding such a function in his address of welcome. Veteran freedom fighter Shaikh Kamruzzaman Tuku, Chairman of Bagerhat Zila Parishad and General Secretary of Bagerhat district unit of Bangladesh Awami League while he was addressing the meeting as the chief guest highly praised the struggling role played by the Iteefaq in creating the background for the emergence of independent Bangladesh.
He wished the long and eventful services of the daily for the cause of the country. Pankaj Chandra Roy, Police Super of Bagerhat also addressed the meeting as a special guest
 The discussion meeting was also addressed among others by journalists Adv. M. Mozaffor Hossain, Prof. ABM. Mosharraf Husain, Alhaj Abdul Baki Talukdar, Delwar Hossain and Shaikh Azmal Hossain. After the discussion meeting a cake was ceremonially cut by the chief guest and the special guest to mark the occasion.
