Former BNP MP among 4 sent to jail

A court in Chapainawabganj sent four BNP leaders including former lawmaker and president of Chapainawabganj district unit of BNP Shahjahan Mia to jail after rejecting their bail prayer in two cases on Wednesday. Public Prosecutor Adv Zobdul Hoque said, Shahjahan Mia and other three BNP leaders identified as Shofiqul Islam, Ali Ahmed Babu and Muktadir Khayer Himel were accused in two cases.
He added that president of Shibganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry and AL activist Enamul Hoque was burnt to death at his shop in Shibganj market on December 31, 2013. At this, SI Golam Mostofa of Shibganj thana filed a case with the same police station on January 2, 2014. The house of the law maker of Shibganj constituency and leader of the Kansat Electricity Movement Golam Rabbani at Pukuria in Shibganj upazila was set on fire on March 2, 2014. The care taker of the house Azizur Rahman filed a case with Shibganj thana on March, 3, 2014, he further added.
