Coast Guard forces in Chittagong detained one foreign fishing trawler named FV Harvest from Karnaphuli river channel on Monday.
The trawler was arrested from Boalkhali area of Karnaphuli river on Monday midnight. Coast guard sources said this trawler was brought from Thailand 6 yrs ago illegally and engaged in fishing in the Bay. Sources said one fishing trader Md. Shahriar illegally brought the trawler in Chittagong for illegal fishing in the Bay.
Acting on secret information, Coast Guard detained the trawler and asked the owing authority of the trawler to submit necessary papers before the law enforcers but failed to produce the necessary import documents and fishing license.
