UNB, Dhaka :
Flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) were disrupted since early Wednesday due to dense fog, affecting the schedules of over 33 domestic and international flights.
“HSIA was blanketed with thick fog leading to delay of 33 flights. Twenty-four inbound and outbound flights were rescheduled as the runway visibility dropped since 12 am,” an airport official said.
Poor runway visibility forced the airport authorities to stop both inbound and international flight operations, the officer added.
Senior ASP Tarik Ahmed of Airport Armed Police (AAP) told UNB that seven
inbound flights and 17 outbound flights were delayed due to blurred visibility caused dense fog while nine scheduled domestic flights also were either delayed or rescheduled due to poor weather conditions at 9 am.
Three domestic flights left the airport around 9:30 am as fog disappeared, he added.
