Fire in Birdem, Old Dhaka factory

Fire broke out in two different places in Dhaka on Thursday morning, but the fire fighters were able to quickly bring them under control, according to the according to Fire Service sources.
The incidents took place at a polythene factory in the Soarighat area in Old Dhaka, and at the Birdem General Hospital 2 (Women and Children) in Segunbagicha area.
In Old Dhaka, the fire broke out at around 10:30am on Thursday, Lima Khan, duty officer at the control room of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, told Dhaka Tribune.
She said six units of fire fighters rushed to the spot when they received information, and was able to bring the fire under control at around 11:08am.
The cause of the fire and whether there are any casualties have yet to be confirmed, the fire official said.
“We will know the details when the report comes,”‘ she added.
In Segunbagicha, the fire broke out on the second floor of the 14-storey hospital at around 11:22am, Lima Khan said.
Two units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and were able to douse the fire at around 11:40am.
There is no report of casualty from the fire in Birdem, and the cause has yet to be determined, she added.
