A storehouse for bananas in Karwan Bazar area of the capital city caught fire on Saturday night.
Mahfuz Reven, a duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, the said fire broke out at the storehouse near Janata Tower of the area around 10:37pm. On information, seven firefighting units rushed there and brought the blaze under control around 11:04pm, he said, adding that they are trying to find out what actually caused the fire.
Having negated the danger, firefighters will soon move to assess the damage and provide an estimate of the financial loss caused by the fire.
