A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was arrested on charge of killing a man, who protested stalking of his daughter by the eveteaser at their Patgram house in Kazipur Municipality of Sirajganj district on Wednesday night.
The arrested man has been identified as Md Aminul Islam, 28. He is the General Secretary of BCL, Kazipur Municipality unit, police said.
Officer-in-charge of Kazipur Police Station Md Lutfor Rahman said that Aminul almost harassed Sonia Khatun, a first-year student of Sirajganj Government College, when she used to go to college every day.
Recently, Sonia’s father Md Abdur Rouf complained about it to the parents of Aminul, which made him angry. Aminul along with his cadres attacked Rouf at their Patgram house in Kazipur Municipality Wednesday afternoon and chopped him indiscriminately,” the OC said.
Rouf was taken to Kazipur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead at night.” the OC said.
Later, the victim’s brother filed a case with Kazipur Police Station accusing eight people, including Aminul.
After the case was lodged, police arrested Aminul from Patgram Bazar, the OC said adding, “We are trying to arrest other accused.”
