Over all exports target could not fulfill in the just concluded fiscal 2014-15. Although, some sectors show a little bit positive growth.
Bangladesh exported products worth $3,120 crore whereas the target was $3,320 crore so last fiscal witnessed a negative growth of 6.41 per cent from its target, according to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data.
Readymade Garments earned $ 2,549 crore, posting 4.06 per cent growth. Jute and jute products earned $86.85 crore, posting 5.34 per cent growth.
Meanwhile, home textile and footwear products fetched $80.43 crore and 67.32 crore respectively, registering 1.49 per cent and 19.12 per cent growth respectively. Engineering products and bi-cycle earnings stood at $12.20 crore and 12.60 crore respectively, showing 6.22 per cent and 11.67 per cent growth respectively.
On the other hand, export of leather and leather goods earned $64.67 crore, witnessed a negative growth of 8.79 per cent. Earnings from agriculture products and frozen food sector grew negatively by 4.72 per cent and 10.99 per cent respectively which stood at $ 58.60 crore and 56.80 crore respectively.
