The inauguration ceremony of the expanded ad newly decorated Korean Language Department at the Institute of Modern Languages (IML) of Dhaka University (DU) was held on Monday at the IML auditorium. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated it as chief guest.
Korean Ambassador in Bangladesh Lee Yoon-Young addressed the function as special guest. Director of the IML of DU Sultan Ahmad, Resident Representative of KOICA Kim Bok-hee, Deputy Resident Representative Kim Ji Hoon and teachers of the Korean Language Department were present on this occasion.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Arefin Siddique said that the bi-lateral and friendly relationship between Korea and Bangladesh has been prevailing for long time.
He informed that the DU and the higher educational institutions in Korea are jointly conducting collaborative academic and research programs on various issues including information and communication technology, climate change and environmental sciences.
He stressed the need for strengthening language and cultural exchange programs to further develop friendly ties between the two nations.
