Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) organises a 12-day
exhibition titled Brahmi to Bangla by Sabyasachi Hazra on its
premises in the capital’s Dhanmondi area from June 14, said a press release.
The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition will be held on June 14 at 5:00pm at La Galerie of AFD. Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, Professor Shishir Bhattacharjee, Professor of Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, Enamul Karim Nirjhar, architect and filmmaker, and Mominul Islam, Managing Director and CEO of IPDC Finance Ltd, will attend the event as the honorable guests.
At the same time, artist’s third publication titled O-In the Quest of Bangla Typography, the main theme of which is to discover the practical and aesthetic aspects of standard Bengali letters from typographic perspective, will also be launched. The book is jointly published by Kothaprokash, Nokta and IPDC Finance Ltd and also to support for organising the exhibition. With the exhibition Brahmi to Bangla and the publication O – In the Quest of Bangla Typography, Sabyasachi mainly presented his experience of understanding the evolution of Bengali letters to the young artists and the eager audience. He hopes that the young artists will carry forward this quest and will fulfil the shortcomings of this publication in the long run.
This publication and exhibition are presented at the crucial juncture of the golden jubilee of Bangladesh, the seventieth anniversary of language movement and the bicentennial of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, the torch bearer in shaping modern Bengali language.
The exhibition will be open to all Monday to Saturday from 3:00pm to 9:00pm till June 25. Sunday is closed.
