Even teachers transfer is a good business

MEDIA reports said teachers’ transfer and posting are now one of the biggest area of corruptions and minting illegal money forcing someone to pay bribe if one has to change workplace for personal reason or otherwise. It is an open secret and a matter of big bargain through appropriate channels at all offices handling transfer and posting of teachers throughout the country.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in its Annual Report-2016 submitted to the President’s Office at Bangabhaban on Wednesday observed that the existing system of teachers’ transfer and posting at public educational institutions, including schools and colleges, breeds highest level of corruption. It says some privileged teachers are given permanent posting at apparently better government schools and colleges by creating options, paving the path for the officials concerned to indulge in corruptions, unlike in private educational institutions.

Transfer and posting in government educational institutions has emerged as an enormous business and it appears to be a routine job now to create room for new business. To check such corruption in the education sector, the ACC has recommended steps either to repeal the existing transfer system or announce a transparent policy for government educational institutions for such transfer and posting. It appears that most teachers at government schools and colleges become target of untimely transfer and posting. It creates mental pressure and brings them troubles to keep their workplace safe.

It is no use to bring to the notice of the Education Minister for ending malpractice and corruption in education system. The minister is famously incompetent but he has no worry.
