The National Legal Aid Day was observed on Thursday with a view to ensuring rules of law and justice for everyone. The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has taken elaborate programme marking the day.
Kishoreganj District Judge Court including District legal aid Services arranged a colourful rally, discussion, postering, handbill distribution and Iftar -doa mahafil marking the day.
A discussion meeting was held at Judge Court conference room on Thursday afternoon. Senior District and Sessions Judge Md Saidur Rahaman presided over the programme.
DC in Kishoreganj Mohammad Shamim Alam, Special Judge Shankor Roy and SP Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM (Bar) were attended as special guests.
It was addressed among others by ADM Farzana Khanam, Bar Association president Advocate Miah Md. Ferdous. Ec. Bar President Advocate Bhupendra Bhowmick Dholon. PP Advocate Shah Azizul Haque, Special PP and district Awami League general secretary advocate M A Afzol.
“Sr. District Judge Md. Saidur Rahaman said that, In most of the cases, the hardcore po or are usually being deprived of their constitutional right of getting legal support and that’s why the government has formulated ‘National Legal Aid Services Act in 2000’ to ensure legal assistance to the poor people,”
I believe that celebration of the National Legal Aid Services Day will play an important role to ensure the access of all to the legal aid services programme introduced by the government,” District Judge in Kishoreganj added.
DC Mohammad ShamimAlam said, the government’s legal assistance service programmes have important role in establishing justice as well as socio-economic development and achieving ‘Vision – 2041’
Sr. SP Mashrukur Rahman Khaled adding that the success of the legal aid services depends on integrated approach of all concerned organizations including judges, Police lawyers, NGO workers, human rights workers and development partner organizations.
BSS from Gaibandha: The National Legal Aid Day-2022 was observed in the district as elsewhere in the country on Thursday with a call to stand beside the distressed to conduct their cases smoothly to get fair justice by the courts.
The theme of this year is “Take legal assistance free of cost, Sheikh Hasina’s government is giving this assurance (BinaKharche Nin AineeSahayata, Sheikh Hasina’ssarkardichchhe Ai Nishchayata)’.
Marking the day, District Legal Aid Committee with district judgeship and magistracy jointly chalked out the elaborate programmes that included blood donation, discussion meeting, setting up stalls on the court premises and cultural function in cooperation with GUK, SKS Foundation, Friendship and RDRS Bangladesh, ASA and Brac.
In the morning, a colorful rally was brought out from the premises of the district judge court here around 9.30 am and ended at the same venue after parading the main roads of the town.

Later, Dilip Kumar Bhoumik addressed a post rally gathering on the court premises as the chief guest. He said the district legal aid committee formed by the government has been playing a significant role for the last few years in ensuring fair justice of the distressed people of the district.
He also underscored the need for standing beside the distressed of the society on humanitarian ground and helping them always conduct their cases smoothly to get fair justice timely by the courts.
Almost all judges of the district Judgeship, chief judicial magistrate AshiqulKhabir, president of District Bar Association Adv. AhsanulKabirLachu, general secretary Adv. Sirajul Islam, senior programme manager of GUK JoyaProsad and town elite participated in the programmes.
