In reply, Afghanistan scored 122 for the loss of three wickets in 29 overs before submitting this report.
Skipper of England team Eoin Morgan hit a resounding 148. His 71-ball innings was ornamented with 17 sixes and four fours. It was a world record for a batsman, who struck record 17 sixes in an ODI match.
Jonny Bairstow made 90 from 99 balls featuring eight fours and three sixes, while Joe Root scored 88 off 82 balls with five fours and a sixer.
