Emergency meeting to prevent air, noise pollution on Nov 25

As a part of the government’s implementation programs to prevent environmental pollution of the country, an emergency inter-ministerial meeting has been convened on November 25 to take effective measures to prevent the increasing air and noise pollution levels.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change minister M Shahab Uddin said this on Wednesday while speaking to the newsmen at a press conference at Spectra Convention Center in Gulshan.
The minister said ministers of the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry, Home Ministry, Local Government Rural Development and Cooperative Ministry, Industries Ministry, Health and Family Welfare Ministry, Housing and Public Works Ministry, the mayors of Dhaka South and North City Corporations and representatives from various organizations were invited to join the meeting.
There will be discussions on effective decision-making and implementation of strategies to prevent air and noise pollution across the country, especially in the capital city, Shahab added.
Earlier, addressing as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the ‘7th sub-regional workshop on climate adaptation in the Bay of Bengal’ the minister said to deal with climate change risks in the coastal areas, “We must work together at the public, private and individual levels”.
The developing countries, including Bangladesh, are not solely responsible for climate change”, he commented.
