Efaz Ahmed’s “Let’s Furnish” has won the EO GSEA 2020/21

The final round of EO GSEA (Global Student Entrepreneur Awards) Bangladesh phase has been hosted virtually for the first time. The chair of the chief guest of this grand occasion dated on 5th December, Saturday, was adorned by Hon’ble State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, H. E. Mr. Md. Shahriar Alam, MP. In his speech he stated that initiatives like this taken by EO GSEA would inspire youths to develop entrepreneurship skills. He mentioned, one third of our population is youth, which is the major driving force for Vision 2021, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the goals of running government to transform our country into a developed country. He also added, our honorable Prime Minister, Her Excellency, Sheikh Hasina always motivates youths to become entrepreneurs and our running government has taken the initiatives to provide financial and all the necessary support to the young entrepreneurs.
Scheduling the registration phase of 5th EO GSEA 2020/21 competition on 15th of October, starting with 10 student’s entrepreneur participating for the preliminary round and having outplayed the top 5 shortlisted contenders of the final, Efaz Ahmed from the Department of Biochemistry of Independent University of Bangladesh was declared champion for his start-up “Let’s Furnish”.
The winner of 5th EO GSEA 2020/21 Bangladesh phase Efaz Ahmed will participate in GSEA Global Phase and have the opportunity to win USD 40,000/- grants and awards by competing with top student entrepreneurs around the world.
On this occasion, Prof. Sarwar Uddin Ahmed, Dean (Acting), School of Business and Entrepreneurship, Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB) was present as an honorable guest speaker of this event. In his speech he mentioned, Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) with an explicit focus on research and global partnership, trains, grooms and encourages the students to be entrepreneurial leaders so that they can contribute to economic development, job creation and improving standards of living of this country. Director, Startup Bangladesh Limited, the other honorable guest speaker of the event quoted, “Startup Bangladesh Limited is always ready to invest in new ventures and to open new doors for the entrepreneurs to be more socially impactful through IDEA (Innovation Design & Entrepreneurship Academy) by providing mentoring, funding, co-working spaces, marketing, and legal supports”.
As honorable jury board members, Hossain Khaled, Founder President, EO Bangladesh, Managing Director, Anwar Group, Farzanah Chowdhury, Former President, EO Bangladesh, MD & CEO, Green Delta Insurance Company Ltd. and Prof. Imran Rahman, Special Advisor to the Board of Trustees & Dean, School of Business, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh were present.
From the board members of EO Bangladesh Zareen Mahmud Hosein, President of EO Bangladesh, Director, Shasha Denims Limited, said “finding, helping and mentoring next generation entrepreneurs who are still concentrated in studying is the motive of EO Bangladesh since it’s started its operations”. The other EO Bangladesh board members who were present on the evening were Md. Tanvir Khan, GSEA Chair, EO Bangladesh, Managing Director, J.K. Group of Industries and Ahmed Imtiaz Hassan, GSEA Co Chair, EO Bangladesh, Director, Aristopharma Ltd.
Before this, on 9th September, 2020, EO Bangladesh inaugurated its 5th EO GSEA journey virtually for the first time. On that virtual arrangement, His Excellency Md. Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, Hon’ble State Minister, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as Chief Guest and Mr. Rajnikanth Rajagopal, Coimbatore, GSEA Expert, EO Global were present as guest of honour.
EO (Entrepreneurs’ Organization), a network of 14,000+ entrepreneurs from 198 chapter’s of 61 countries, working for positive changes among the youths around the world. EO Bangladesh is one of the chapters of EO Global. From the establishment of EO Global in 1987 the members of EO are working on building the network of entrepreneurs to fulfill their needs. EO works as the only Pier-to-Pier network specialized for entrepreneurs that help to bring positive changes in the lives of those people who are changing the world. Global Student Entrepreneurs Awards (GSEA) works for those students who are already an owner and director of businesses. This event is an initiative of EO to provide the essential advisory support, recognition and network support required to transform a student entrepreneur into a proper entrepreneur.
