The government has once again extended the closure of all educational institutions due to the coronavirus prevalence.
Schools, colleges and universities will remain shut until November 14 following the coronavirus pandemic, said Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni while addressing a virtual press conference on Thursday.
She said there remains the risk as experts fear that coronavirus infections might rise in winter.
The minister, however, said they are thinking of opening the educational institutions on a limited scale considering the candidates of the next Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations. “If the situation remains under control, we’ll take that decision.”
She also said there will be no book festival on the first day of the next academic year unlike every year due to the coronavirus prevalence.
Dipu Moni said they are thinking about an alternative way to reach books to students.
Earlier on October 1, the government extended the closure of all educational institutions until October 31.
On March 23, the government declared general holidays from March 26, aiming to prevent the transmission of coronavirus. Earlier on March 16, the government closed all the educational institutions to contain the virus.
Later, the closure was extended in several phases.
However, the government withdrew the general holidays and lifted shutdown from May 31.
Meanwhile, the HSC and equivalent, Junior School Certificate (JSC), Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC), Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee and annual examinations at the secondary level will not be held this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
