Edn instts bldgs must have emergency exits: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday said facilities like open veranda, emergency exits and fire alarms must be there in the buildings of educational institutions.
The Prime Minister also said the alarm system has to be there in the toilets to be constructed for students.
Sheikh Hasina came up with the observations when she saw the corrected designs of two important projects of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Department.
The two designs-one on ‘Development of government secondary schools’ and another on ‘Expansion of science education scope in government colleges’-were placed before the Prime Minister through a power-point presentation at a programme at her office.
Of the two projects, the Development of Government secondary schools to be implemented at a cost of Tk 4640 crore while the Expansion of science education scope in government colleges at Tk 1806.54 crore.
At the programme, Sheikh Hasina also witnessed the designs of the proposed projects on Sher-e Bangla Nagar High School and College (Female Education Temple) in Dhaka and Sheikh Russell High School at Gopalganj Sadar. Chief Engineer of the Education Engineering Department Dewan Mohammad Hanjala presented the designs.
