Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman on Friday expressed deep shock at the death of Professor of Islamic History and Cultural Department of DU A K M Idris Ali.
In a message of condolence, Akhtaruzzaman recalled his contributions to the department and said, “His contribution to administration and academic areas would be remembered.”
He also prayed for peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to members of the bereaved family.
Prof Idris retired from DU on 2014 and started working as honorary professor.
He died on Thursday at a city hospital at the age of 67.
He left behind wife and a host of well wishers to mourn his death.
