A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Dhaka University (DU) and American Institute of Bangladesh Studies (AIBS), USA was signed on Thursday at a simple ceremony held at the VC’s office of Dhaka University.
Dr Golam M Mathbor, President, AIBS and Professor, School of Social Work of Monmouth University, USA and Treasurer of DU Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Director, Social Welfare and Research Institute Prof Dr Md Nurul Islam and Prof Dr ASM Atiqur Rahman of the same institute, Registrar, Syed Rezaur Rahman, Dr Rumana Tasmin, Director and Syeda Nur-E-Royhan Assistant Director of AIBS, Bangladesh were, among others, present on the occasion.
The main purpose of this MoU is to provide mutual assistance in the implementation of joint academic and research programs. Under the purview of this agreement a conference titled “Strategic Management and Effective Leadership for Higher Education” will be organized jointly at Dhaka University in January 2015, which will be attended by academics and scholars from home and abroad. Moreover, the agreement will explore various options for mutual assistance through strengthening bilateral co-operation and collaborations between the organizations.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the AIBS authorities for signing the MoU. He hoped that through signing of this MoU, both the organizations would be able to contribute effectively for social welfare and social development.
