DSE, CSE stays in red

Key share price index in the country’s twin bourses-Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – stayed in red in the week’s second session on Tuesday, after public holiday on Monday.
The DSE benchmark index, DSEX lost 31.35 points or 0.68 percent to reach 4559.81 at the close of trading on Tuesday. Of the 285 issues traded, 73 gained, 180 declined and 32 remained unchanged.
Shares worth Tk 291.50 crore changed hands at the DSE on the day as against Tk 292.51 crore on Sunday.
During the week’s second session today (Tuesday), the banking sector led the sectoral performance with 0.67% gain. But, cement, engineering and telecommunication mimicked the day’s waning tone.
The day’s top 10 losers at the DSE were Al-Arafah Islami Bank, Southeast Bank, Union Capital, Prime Bank, Reckitt Benckiser BD, Kay and Que, Midas Finance, Gemini Sea Food, Eastern Insurance, and Safco Spinning.
The CSE key index, CSCX also lost 100.31 points to reach 8838.33 at the close. Of the 227 issues traded, 65 advanced, 143 suffered loss and 19 remained unchanged. The value of the traded issues was Tk 27.92 crore on Tuesday against Tk 23.59 crore on Sunday.
