Key share price index in the country’s twin bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – returned to negative on Wednesday after two successive positive sessions in the week.
Trading at both DSE and CSE began on negative note in the morning and ended the day in red after some ups and downs.
The DSE benchmark index, DSEX shed 6.62 points or 0.13 percent to reach 4750.26 at the close of trading on Wednesday. Of the 290 issues traded, 93 gained, 162 declined and 34 remained unchanged.
Shares worth Tk 396.29 crore changed hands at the DSE on the day.
In the day’s session, among the major sectors, Food & Allied and Cement performed well, whereas Engineering and non-Life Insurance disappointed the investors most.
The day’s top 10 losers at the DSE were Generation Next Fashion, NCC Bank Mutual Fund, Zeal Bangla Sugar Mills, Shyampur Sugar Mills, Islamic Finance, Trust Bank, Singer BD, Prime Bank, BSRM Steel, and Meghna Pet Industries.The CSE key index, CSCX lost 12.04 points to reach 9328.71 at the close yesterday. Of the 222 issues traded, 66 advanced, 141 suffered loss and 15 remained unchanged. The value of the traded issues was Tk 36.51 crore on Wednesday.
