A court in Chittagong sentenced a drug trader to five years rigors imprisonment in a case filed for smuggling 605 pieces of Yaba tablets in 2009.The court of Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Shah-e-Nur also fined him Taka five thousand and in default to suffer one month more imprisonment. The convict yaba trader is Suman Shah was present while declaring verdict. The court sent him to jail after delivering the judgment.
Court sources said Kotwali thana arrested the drug trader along with the tablets from his residence at Jamalkhan by lane on July 15 in 2009.
Police submitted charge-sheet against him on August 13 in 2009 while the court framed charges against him on 15 March on 2010. The court on Thursday after examining a total of four prosecution witnesses out of 13 and passed the verdict convicting Suman Shah, court sources said.
