Theatre personalities at a discussion here have said staging of time-befitting dramas always play crucial role in eliminating curses, superstitions, militancy, terrorism and drug from the society.
They made the observation at a pre-rally discussion organised by drama institution ‘Rangpur Padatik’ recently to celebrate its 39th founding anniversary on its office premises at Town Hall square in Rangpur.
The celebrations began with hoisting of the national flag and organisation flag amid rendering of the national anthem in the inaugural function arranged abiding by the health directives in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Later, a colourful ‘Shobhayatra’ was brought out with participation of a limited number of dramatists, drama artists and cultural personalities followed by discussion, cultural function and staging of drama.
With founding President of ‘Rangpur Padatik’ Bijoy Prasad Tapu in the chair, President of Rangpur city Awami League Shafiur Rahman Shafi attended the functions as the chief guest.
General Secretary of Rangpur city Awami League Tushar Kanto Mandal as the special guest attended the functions moderated by General Secretary of ‘Rangpur Padatik’ S B Suman.
Noted dramatist Razzaque Murad, Cultural Affairs Secretary of ‘Rangpur Padatik’ Advocate Kallol, Convener of its anniversary celebration committee Anwar Hossain Russo and founder of Rangpur Theatre Nizamul Islam Babu addressed.
Chief Secretary of ‘Rangpur Padatik’ G M Nazu delivered a welcome speech narrating activities being conducted by the organisation since its inception to produce popular drama artists and staging stage dramas and street dramas.
Members and artistes of ‘Rangpur Padatik’ recited poems, rendered songs and dances in the cultural evening followed by staging of drama ‘Enggit’.
The speakers put emphasis on strengthening cultural movement, producing more drama artists and popularising stage and street dramas to ascertain secular spirit in the society for building a peaceful Bangladesh.
They urged theatre personalities for writing and staging time-befitting dramas to inspire people in eliminating curses, superstations, violence, militancy, terrorism, child marriage, dowry, drug and communalism for building a peaceful society.
The chief guest lauded dramatists and drama artists for working in spirit of the War of Liberation even during the Covid-19 pandemic to establish a developed, peaceful and non-communal society.
