Several leaders of different political parties are allegedly playing doubtful roles, bemusing the high commands ahead of the 11th National Election to be held on December 30.
That is why, the Awami League, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and the Jatiya Party are closely watching the activities of some of their leaders.
The Jatiya Party on Monday removed ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader from the post of Secretary General and brought in Presidium Member Md Mashiur Rahman Ranga there.
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad decided on Sunday after discussion on with his trusted colleagues at his Baridhara residence, the party insiders said.
It is said that Hawlader sold nomination forms for money, not getting confirmation of nomination from Mohajote for some senior leaders of the party like Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu and Salma Islam.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Jatiya Party Chairman Andalib Rahman Partho urged the Election Commission for using EVM in his Constituency (Bhola-1) in the December 30 election.
He also filed a writ petition with the Supreme Court’s High Court division in this regard.
But the leaders of BNP and other alliance leaders did not take the initiative positively. They said it is very much unexpected when the BNP-led 20 party alliance rejected the using of EVM in the upcoming election.
Andalib Rahman Partho’s initiative is only for his personal interest. He overlooked the greater interest of the alliance, they said.
Even, Partho was absent in the last meeting of the alliance for which some leaders wanted to know about the role of Partho on EVM issue. Learning the matter, he avoided the meeting.
A leader of the alliance wishing anonymity told The New Nation that the high command is watching all the activities of some leaders including Partho.
“Partho took the decision to apply for EVM in his own constituency without consulting the alliance leaders. He cannot do it. It is a great shame for us,” the leader said.
The AL identified some doubtful leaders who are active in the controversial activities and took decisions to avoid them. It announced to suspend the leaders permanently from the party who would go against the party during the election.
The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina several times urged the aspirants of next general election to shun all conflicts and propaganda against one another and worked together to ensure victory of the ‘Boat’ in the next general election, no matter who gets the party ticket in their constituency.
According to senior Awami League leaders, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already ordered senior leaders to resolve the internal conflicts by any means.
Awami League Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman admitted that Awami League has been in grip of internal conflicts. The fiasco is still a great challenge for party unity.
The AL observatory team also is watching the activities of the leaders and proving the information of the party’s high-ups, AL sources said.
