DMP files 5,498 cases for traffic rules violation

Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) fined Taka 28,30,255 and filed 5,498 cases against different modes of motor vehicles for violating traffic rules conducting drives in city’s different areas on Friday.
During the operation, the DMP traffic authority dumped 16 vehicles and wrecked 527, a DMP Traffic Division release said on Saturday. It said cases were filed against 1,005 vehicles for driving on wrong sides, 115 cases for using hydraulic horns, six cases for using hooter and beacon light and seven cases for using tainted glass. Besides, the DMP also filed 2,148 cases against motorbikes for the violation of traffic laws and seized 85. In addition, 28 cases were filed against drivers for using mobile phones while driving.
