Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam has been admitted to hospital with coronavirus infection.
He contracted the infection a month after being vaccinated against the coronavirus on March 6. He was admitted to Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital on the same day.
DMP’s Additional Commissioner (Media) Iftekhairul Islam said on Wednesday that he was taken to hospital as he was feeling sick. There, he tested and found Covid-19 positive.
“He is better now, with no physical ailments. He asked for blessings from everyone,” he further said.
The DMP commissioner received his vaccine shot on February 7, the day Bangladesh launched its mass inoculation drive.
The health department’s doctor told the reporter in different times that a portion of those who are vaccinated may also be infected. It has been seen in clinical trials and can occur in all types of vaccines.
