The floods in Jamalpur are taking a terrible turn. Misery is on the rise. Road communication between Upazila Sadar and almost all the Union Sadar of the district has been cut off. Due to the ingress of water in the houses, people as well as cattle have become homeless. The flood affected are living in extreme poverty due to food and drink crisis. Inadequate relief distribution in some places. Water has also entered almost community clinics.
People in all these areas are suffering from food crisis as well as medicine crisis. So far 15 people have lost their lives in the flood waters. In the last 24 hours, the Brahmaputra river has been 16.98 cm. And 20.60 cm at Bahadurabadghat point of Jamuna. The water has increased. According to the District Relief and Rehabilitation Office, more than 15,000 people have so far taken shelter in six shelters in the district to deal with the floods. 2 diagnostic center owners sentenced to 6 months imprisonment

Barishal district administration operating mobile court with help of Detective Branch of Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) on Saturday sentenced two owners and two staff of a diagnostic center for preparing fake pathological report, test by using date expired reagent and not renewing license of the center.
Six months imprisonment were awarded to Md. Sahin and his brother Md. Ibrahim, owners of Moon Medical Service and three month imprisonment were awarded to that lab technician Shyam Saha and staff Shyamal Majumdar.
Ziaur Rahman, executive magistrate of district administration, said they are preparing fake pathological report without examine and using the fake signature of the doctor.
The duration of license of the diagnostic center also expired long days ago.
The accused confessed their offense and after awarding sentences, the diagnostic center was sealed till further order, the magistrate added.
Police sent the convicted accused to jail after mobile court declared verdict, confirmed Nurul Islam, OC of Kotwali police station.
Covid-19 cases jump to 11,342 in Rajshahi division, 5,637 cured

With detection of 238 new more positive cases in all eight districts on Friday, the total number of Covid-19 infected patients in Rajshahi division now jumped to 11,342, said a Covid-19 quarantine and isolation related daily report here on Saturday.
Of the total infected patients, 5,637 have, so far, been recovered from the Covid-19 with 155 fatalities including 95 in Bogura and 22 in Rajshahi. Another 1,148 patients were undergoing treatment in designated hospitals in the division till this morning.
Of the total new positive cases, the highest 91 were detected in Rajshahi district followed by 68 in Naogaon district, Dr Gopendra Nath Acharya, Divisional Director of Health, said.
Apart from this, 30 people have also tested positive for Covid-19 in Sirajganj, 26 in Bogura and 14 in Chapainawabganj districts on the same day.
Following detection of new Covid-19 cases, the respective houses of the infected persons in different areas in the division were placed on 14-day lockdown according to the health safety guidelines.

Meghna River erosion turns severe in recent days at different points of Hizla upazila under Barishal district.
Local journalists after visiting different areas of upazila Sadar, Baushia, Baherchar, old Hizla, Durgapur, Laxmipur, Harinathpur, and Hizla-Gourabdi found huge numbers of socio-cultural-business-educational enterprises, residential structures, and crop lands eroded away by mighty waves of Meghna River in recent days.
Abdul Hadi, gauge reader of Bangladesh Water Development Board, said Meghna flowing average 30-35 centimeters above the danger point at different areas of the Hizla upazila including Baushia of upazila Sadar and Abupur of Harinathpur points. Now the erosion threat reached within 200 yards of Hizla upazila parishad administrative complex and advancing speedily, he added.
Local AL lawmaker Pankaj Nath sanctioned Tk.50 lakhs as emergency fund for dumping geo bags, upazila parishad sources said.
Abdul Latif Shikdar, Harinathpur union parishad chairman of Hizla, said Badartuni secondary school, Harinatpur Bazaar may be eroded away at any moment.
The erosion reached severe stage at this point because upstream flows from Chandpur, Shariatpur districts cross Hizla area on way to downstream flows, opined Tawhidul Alam, gauge reader of Hizla BWDB office.
2 Engineers of RHD infected by Covid-19

Cox’s Bazar Roads and Highways Department’s Executive Engineer Pintu Chakma and Sub-Divisional Engineer Mujibur Rahman have been infected by Coronavirus.
Pintu Chakma, Executive Engineer, Cox’s Bazar RHD has been working since the beginning of the Corona epidemic to keep various govt development projects running, emergency relief projects on run and the smooth movement of national highways and district roads.
He said that he had to visit the site almost all the time to oversee the progress of the project work as well as the official work as per the instructions of the higher authorities.
Pintu Chakma said the symptoms suddenly appeared a few days ago and report was found positive on Thursday. He said, he has since moved into isolation at home.

Victim raped again by UP member when justice sought in Gazipur

A garment worker was allegedly raped by a union parishad member again at Sreepur upazila in Gazipur district when she sought justice from him as a rape victim.
Police on Saturday noon arrested one accused Parvez Ahmed, 28, in this connection after the victim lodged a case against two people with Sreepur Police Station.
According to the case record, the victim had developed a love affair with pick-up van driver Parvez for nine months. On July 18, Parvez took the victim to his house and violated her several times with the promise of marriage. Later, accused Parvez fled the house leaving the victim alone.
Kauriad Union Parishad Ward No.1 member Kalim Uddin, 40, also the owner of the pick-up van, went to Parvez’s house in search of him at 8.00pm on July 19. The victim then described the rape incident to the UP member and sought justice for it.
The victim said the UP member assured her of justice and would arrange marriage between her and Parvez. Upon the assurance, he took her to a forest two kilometers away from the house riding on a motorcycle and violated her in an abandoned house there, alleged the victim.
According to the case, the UP member then offered to give the victim Tk 20,000 for not to disclose the matter to others. The member also threatened the victim and her family members with life as she refused to accept the proposal.
Freedom fighter dies of corona in Gafargaon

Abul Kalam Azad, a freedom fighter, has died of COVID-19 in Mymensingh’s Gafargaon upazila.
The 70-year-old freedom fighter breathed his last at Kurmitola General Hospital on Friday evening while undergoing treatment there.
Upazila Health Department sources said Abul Kalam’s report came positive for the dealy virus on July 17. He was shifted to the hospital following deterioration of his condition.
Two children drown in Dinajpur

Two children drowned in separate incidents in Dhepa River of Birganj upazila and a pond in Nababganj upazila on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Fahim Islam, 13, son of Ashraful Islam and Rahat Bin Mabil, 7, son of Mahabul Alam.
Officer-in-Charge of Birganj Police Station Abdul Matin said Fahim drowned while taking bath in Dhepa River with friends. Later, his body was recovered by FSCD.
Officer-in-Charge of Nababganj Police Station Ashok Kumar said Rahat drowned in a pond beside his house while bathing in it.
