Artist Shahid Kabir’s solo exhibition titled “I Bow My Head to You in Deep Obeisance” was held at Bengal Shilpalaya cafe in the city’s Dhanmondi area recently.
As part of the exhibition, the gallery recently organised a slide show and discussion on the artist’s artworks.
Noted educationist Borhanuddin Khan Jahangir, eminent architect and art critic Prof Shamsul Wares, urban planner and environmentalist Professor Nazrul Islam and critic Moinuddin Khaled were present at the programme and spoke on the occasion.
Artist Shahid Kabir was born in Barisal in 1949. He completed graduation in fine arts from the Government College of Arts and Crafts (presently the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University).
He took part in 13 solo exhibitions at home and abroad and many group shows. He earned national award from Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in 1975 and 1976.
He also earned several awards including ‘Carmen Arozamina’ from Spain. Now he is working in Dhaka and Madrid as a freelance artist. n
