UNB, Dhaka :
Reaffirming that there will be a movement soon, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday night warned the government of dire consequences if their peaceful action programmes are obstructed.
“Our movement is on and this will be intensified in the days to come. But the consequences won’t be good if our movement is obstructed by the cadres of Awami League, Chhatra League and Jubo League,” she said.
Khaleda further said, “We have already suffered enough and tolerated enough. We’ve shed huge blood and sacrificed many lives… enough is enough…we won’t tolerate any more and sacrifice anymore… we’ll retaliate the way they attack us.”
The BNP chief was exchanging views with upazila chairmen of 14 districts under Chittagong division at her Gulshan office.
Khaleda accused the government of trying to split political parties using intelligence agencies and asked it to stop such activities right away.
“The agencies are being used to split parties. We want to tell them stop such acts. Oil your own machine. You won’t be spared in the future if you indulge in such activities. Mind it that Awami League government is not the ultimate one. It must go,” she said pointing at the intelligence agencies.
Khaleda also alleged that the government is making the BNP leaders and activists disappeared using the elite force Rab and reminded the regime that it will have to be accountable one day and be put in the dock for such activities.
Claiming that her party is on the right track, the BNP chief asked the party leaders and activists not to get scared but take steps against the government.
Terming the current government illegal, Khaleda said upazila chairmen and vice chairmen are now the true public representatives. “But the BNP-backed public representatives are not allowed to work for people.”
She asked the BNP-blessed public representatives to work hard for the welfare of people and stand beside them with their respective abilities.
BNP standing committee members MK Anwar, Rafiqul Islam Miah, BNP Chairperson’s adviser Morshed Khan, joint secretaries general M Shajahan, Salauddin Ahmed and Chittagong divisional BNP organising secretary Golam Akbar Khandaker were, among others, present.
