A teenage girl and her cousin brother were found hanging with a same scarf from a same branch of a tree at village Saudpara in Raipura upazila in Narsingdi on Friday morning.
The dead were identified as Shuklal Barman, 18, and her cousin Monica Rani Barman, 14. Shuklal was a hair dresser and Monica was a class IX student of Monipura High School.
Police, quoting the victims’ families, said the boy and the girl were missing since Thursday night.
Neighbor informed their families after found them hanging with a same scarf from a same branch in a tree this morning. Later, police recovered the bodies at about 10:30am and sent to Sadar Hospital morgue.
Local people said Shuklal had a love affair with Monica.
Monica’s elder sister Anita Rani Barman, however, claimed none of the members of both families were aware about their affair.
Raipura thana SI Saidur Rahman told media that police initially suspect the incident as a case of suicide.
