The Diabetes Awareness Day was observed across the country on Friday through deferent programmes to make the people aware about diabetes marking the 64th founding anniversary of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh.
As part of the programmes, a colorful rally was brought out from Matshya Bhaban area in the city.
A discussion was also held at the conference room of the BIRDEM Hospital where Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed addressed the meeting as the chief guest. President of the association AK Azad Khan presided over it.
Dr Bedura Jabin presented key note paper on Children Diabetes and its prevention. Director General of BIRDEM Hospital Professor Jafor A Latif and Secretary General of the association Sayef Uddin, among others, spoke at the meeting.
The minister said the government under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is taking various projects including social safety net programmes and distributing allowance to the helpless and poor people.
He emphasized the need to create more awareness through media for diabetes prevention.
