The Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL) has appointed a Vietnamese company for enterprise resource planning (ERP) and enterprise asset management (EAM) components of its 60 km Bakhrabad-Siddhirganj gas pipeline scheme.
GTCL signed the $9.164 million deal with FPT Information System Corporation of Vietnam on Thursday evening at a city hotel.
The Vietnamese company will provide automated software tools for ERP and EAM components of the 30-inch diametre gas pipeline which is now supplying gas from Bakhrabad gas field to different power plants in Meghnaghat, Haripur and Siddhirganj areas in Narayanganj.
The services also include reports on daily gas transmission, sales and revenue, and automatic critical alerts.
FPT will provide training to the GTCL employees under the project.
State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid, who was present at the contract signing ceremony, said similar ERP and EAM deals will be signed with other companies in the energy sector.
He said the state-owned companies in the power sector are improving their performance as they have such contracts with foreign companies. But the companies in the energy sector are lagging behind in service improvement.
The function was also addressed by Vietnamese Ambassador in Dhaka Nguyen Quang Thuc, energy secretary Nazim Uddin Chowdhury and Petrobangla chairman Istiak Ahmed.
