A dead turtle was floated on the sea-beach here on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Assistant Police Super of Tourist Police Raihan Kazemi confirmed the news. He said, during the full tide, the turtle weighing around 15 kilograms was floated here and several injury marks were spotted on its body. As per rule, the animal was handed over to local environment office, he added.
Assistant Director of the Environment Department Sarder Shariful Islam said, “We will preserve the turtle and try to find out the cause of its death.”
He further said, “Many times, the turtles get injured by fishing boats near the shore and die after being attacked by stray dogs.”
