Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd (DBBL) has awarded scholarship to 3,018 students who passed HSC or Equivalent Examination in 2019 and studying at graduation level in different universities or colleges of the country.
The scholarship giving ceremony was held at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium at Mirpur in the capital on Saturday.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq was present as the Chief Guest and handed over the Scholarship awarding letters among the students while the bank’s chairman Sayem Ahmed presided over the function.
The bank has also increased the monthly scholarship amount by Tk.500 for both HSC and Graduation level and the new rate is also applicable for the existing awardees of all batches effective from next January.
As per new rate, the scholarship awardees of Graduation level will get monthly Tk 3,000 while awardees of HSC level will get monthly Tk 2,500. Besides, the awardees will get one time grant annually for reading materials and clothing as per existing rate.
The awardees of Graduation level will get DBBL scholarship in Masters Level by fulfilling minimum criteria and the scholarship will also continue in M.Phil & Ph.D. Level. To provide scholarship in new rate, additional amount of Tk 10 crore will be required per annum for scholarship purpose.
Dutch-Bangla Bank, under its social cause program, has been awarding scholarship to the meritorious students in need of financial aid studying at Higher Secondary and Graduation levels. Under this initiative, a total number of 62,752 students got DBBL scholarship among which 19,524 students of different levels are enjoying the scholarship at present.
