DB arrests 4 top Neo-JMB men in Bogura

Detectives Branch (DB) Of police arrested at least four top members of the militant group New JMB, including students of Jahangirnagar University and North South University with weapons, explosives and bomb-making equipments from Bogra.
On the basis of secret information, they were arrested from Chandihara area of Shibganj upazila of Bogra district early Saturday.
They were identified as Tanvir Ahmed alias Abu Ibrahim, 25, a student of Institute of the Information Technology of Jahangirnagar University and member of New JMB IT branch; Jakaria Jamil, 31, a student of Darul Uloom Deoband Madrasa in India and chief of New JMB media branch; Atikur Rahman, 28, a student of Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at North South University; and Abu Sayed, 32, an active member of the militant group.
Rajshahi Range DIG Abdul Baten confirmed this in a press briefing at the conference room of the Bogra Superintendent of Police’s office at 11am on Saturday (November 8). Superintendent of Police Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan was present at the time.
DIG Abdul Baten said acting on a tip-off a team of detective branch (DB) of police conducted a drive in Chandihara area at around 1:45am on Friday midnight while the militants gathered there to hold a secret meeting and arrested the four members from there.
Members of Detective Branch (DB) have also seized one pistol, a magazine with two rounds of bullets, a shooter gun, three Burmese knives, a machete, one kg of explosives, red tapes, four batteries and some wire from their possession, DIG said.
Three cases have been filed against the arrested under the Arms Control Act, Explosive Substances Act, and Anti-Terrorism Act.
The police official stated that accused Abu Saaid, an active member of the outfit, was taking preparation to go to the Middle-East.
They will be produced in the court with a 10-day remand prayer, DIG Abdul Baten added at the press briefing.
