CU Correspondent :The administration of Chittagong University has suspended 22 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of ruling Awami League, on charge of assaulting cops and journalists, among others.The Board of Residence, Health and Disciplinary Committee took the decision in a meeting on Thursday. Vice-Chancellor Prof Anwarul Azim Arif presided over the meeting.The authority suspended Ahsan Habib of History, Nasir Uddin Ahmed of IERT for six months, while Niaz Uddin and Anisuzzaman for two months on charge of clobbering police men.The Body also censured another Chhatra League leader Tauhidul Islam Zimel of History on charge of humiliating Sarifuzzaman, correspondent of Independent television; Partho Protim for two months for beating Sakiril Haque Tharu, Executing Member of CU Journalist Association and the correspondent of the daily Inqilab. Abdullah-al- Faruque of Public Administration was suspended for spreading defaming and derogatory comments on social media Facebook against a female teacher of the department. The Body also suspended Selim Reza, Tajul Islam, Kawsar Alam and Sumit Sen for three months as they padlocked entrance of examination hall.Ashraful Alam of Islamic history and culture was suspended for three months while Anwar Hossain of Fine Arts for two months on charge of assaulting students.The authority also suspended Tauhidul Islam of History, Nayeem Uddin of Finance and Banking, Mohammad Sakib of Biology, Abu Ahad of Management for three months whereas Raju Munshi of Accounting and Saidul Islam of Public Administration for six months on charge of their involvement in factional clashes.
