Chittagong Bureau :
Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said, Chittagong has become unfit for habitation and the port city has turned into depots of wastes and debris spreading bad smell .
He said billboard business grabbed the entire city hampering the environment. He also said there is no discipline of transportation of vehicles and the most deteriorated roads are visible in the city .
He said this situation of the port city also apprised the Prime Minister in due course of time. He disclosed it while talking to journalists at the road show campaign-2014 on minimizing the road mishaps and creating awareness among city dwellers at Agrabad Badamtali crossing yesterday morning as Chief Guest.
Communications minister said the cordiality and commitment is prime factor for development of the city and if I am empowered with the development work of the city, it will require maximum 10 days to complete the road development work.
He also requested the concerned agencies related to city development for undergoing work with cordiality and sincerity to get rid of the city dwellers from ill habitation . Chittagong is the second largest and the only port city of Bangladesh and it should be kept clean and wealthy.
He also mentioned that Chittagong is the only business hub of the country and commercial capital . Karnaphuli tunnel and Deep sea port project now under process and the foreign investors will invest in Chittagong more and more in coming days. So we should save the city from indiscipline, cleanliness and free from wastages and debris. About of grants of city corporation, he suggested the City Mayor for seeking special grants for development of the city and he assures for extending cooperation in granting additional fund from govt.
