POLICE on Sunday arrested one Jahid alias Jahangir and his accomplice Md Abdul Majid from the city’s Badda area in connection with the killing of his own son to entrap a neighbour. Police on April 18 recovered the body of Ausar with head and neck injuries from a paddy field near Badda area. Since Jahid had enmity with his neighbour, he plotted to kill his son to entrap them as murderers. So, he hired Majid to kill his son on April 17. Jahid filed a murder case with the Badda Police Station against his neighbour as the prime suspect. Based on video footage, police arrested Abdul Majid from Satarkul area who confessed before the court that Jahid (father) ordered him to kill Ausar and he was overseeing the killing standing nearby.
It is not a first incident of this kind. There are several identical incidents. On November 4 last year, Nusrat Jahan, 9, was killed by her mother Arzina Begum as she witnessed her father Jamil Sheikh’s murder. The girl witnessed how her mother in association with her boyfriend Shahin killed her father. According to the police, Arzina and Shahin killed father and daughter to remove barriers on the way to their extra-marital affairs. What a ferocious incident! A mother killed her daughter along with the husband only for her personal pleasure.
In both incidents, the killer father and mother created scene to divert attention of neighbours and police. Their moaning was so touchy and perfect that, the neigbours were also melted by it. There are opposite incidents also. A police officer and his wife were killed by their daughter Oishee in Dhaka three years back
We find it extremely difficult to believe that parents could be so cruel if they are normal. Nobody will care to take the incidents seriously to know their mental condition or social pressure they were under. Not to take life and death of ordinary people seriously is the social and political mentality under the selfishly cruel atmosphere we are living in.
