The recovery rate from the coronavirus increased further in Bangladesh with the recuperation of a good number of people every day.
In the last 24 hours till Sunday, 2,372 people recovered from Covid-19 to push the national recovery rate to71.30 percent. In total, recoveries in the country have reached 240,643.
Besides, the positivity rate -an indicator of the prevalence of the disease-was recorded at 11.35 percent in the last hours while the overall infection rate is 19.53 percent.
Bangladesh has one of the lowest mortality rates – 1.40 percent.
Meanwhile, the health authorities reported 1,476 more coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours to take the confirmed infections to 337,520.
Besides, the virus claimed the lives of 31 more people during the period, bringing the total casualties to 4,733.
Of the new deceased, 25 are men and six are women. Among the total dead, 3,686 or 77.88 percent are men while 1,047 or 22.12 percent are women.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.During the period, 12,999 samples were tested in 94 labs across the country. With this, a total of 1,728,480 samples have so far been tested in the country. On Saturday, Bangladesh recorded 34 deaths from coronavirus and 1,282 cases after testing 10,723 samples. Meanwhile, coronavirus casualties across the world have reached 924,569 as of Sunday morning.
Besides, the virus has so far sickened 28,940,424 people around the globe, according to Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 7,208,734 patients, 7,147,844 are in mild condition while 60,890 are in serious or critical condition. So far, 20,807,121 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 6,676,601 and 198,128 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 4,751,788 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 131,274.
