Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Wednesday recalled the contributions of late journalist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury, describing him as a shinning star in the field of journalism.
“Zaglul Ahmed was a shinning star in the country’s journalism arena and he will ever be remembered through his works,” he said, speaking at a memorial meeting at the VIP Lounge of Jatiya Press Club (JPC) here.
The Journalist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury Memorial Trust organized the meeting marking his third death anniversary with Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam in the chair.
The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam, JPC President Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, the daily Sangbad Editor Khandakar Maniruzzaman, the daily Bhorer Kagok Editor Shyamol Datta and Ahmed’s younger sister Helena Chowdhury, among others, addressed the meeting.
Zaglul Ahmed was killed in a tragic road accident on October 29 in 2014 in the city. He began his carrier in Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) as a reporter in 1972 and retired from the organization as Chief Editor and Managing Director.
