Construction work of country’s first soil archive progressing at KU

Construction work of the country’s first soil archive is going on in full swing at Acharya Jagadish Chandra Academic Building of Khulna University (KU).
Aiming to smooth running through collecting different type of soil, the KU authorities has taken decision to set up country’s first ever soil archive at the building.
More than 2,000 samples collected from 1,858 places of the forest and agricultural lands will be preserved there with a view to facilitating research works.
The soil archive is being jointly financed by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Bangladesh Forest Department and supervised by Prof Dr Mahmud Hossain of Forestry and Wood Discipline Department of the university.
KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhamad Faekuzzaman visited the spot recently and assured of all necessary supports to make the initiative a success.
Talking to media, Professor Mahmud said construction work of soil archive will be completed by July this year.
