Condolences continue to pour in for former President and Chief Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed who passed away at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on Saturday at the age of 92.
Immediately after his demise, people from all walks of life as well as different political parties and leaders expressed their shock and sent condolences.
President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed their profound shock and sorrow at the death of Shahabuddin Ahmed, reports BSS.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud , Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun also expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Ahmed, in separate condolence messages.
State Minister for Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Swapan Bhattacharjee, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mohammad Mahbub Ali, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain and State Minister for Social Welfare Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru also condoled his death in separate condolence messages.
Family sources said Ahmed breathed his last around 10:25 this morning. He had been suffering from old age complications for a long time, they said.
In February, he got admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the CMH as his physical condition deteriorated.
