Youth held with firearms

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested a young man along with firearms and ammunition at Banakul in Shibganj upazila on Friday. The arrestee was identified as Kabir Hossain, 19, son of Badal Ali of Thutapara in the upazila. Acting on secret information, a team of BGB-9 conducted a drive and intercepted a human hauler in the area around 6:30 pm. Later the border guards recovered two pistols, 14 rounds of bullet and four magazines after searching the body of Kabir and arrested him. A case was filed with Shibganj Police Station.

One held with 250 bottles phensidyl
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a young man along with 250 bottles of Indian ophensidyl syrup from Charbagdanga area of Sadar upazila on Saturday. The arrestee was identified as Tawfiq, 35.Major Kamruzzaman, camp commander of RAB-5, said on secret information, a team of the elite force conducted a raid on one Shahidul’s house in the area around 4.00 am and arrested Tawfiq along with 250 bottles of Phensidyl.Sensing the presence of the elite force Shahidul managed to flee.

Human chain formed
Auto-rickshaw drivers of Chapainawabganj formed human chain on Sunday in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office protesting the obstructions made by the bus labourers in plying of battery run auto-rickshaws. Several hundred auto-rickshaw drivers participated in the human chain under the banner of Chapainawabganj Zila Auto-rickshaw Shramik Oikyo Parishad. During the human chain, convener of the Chapainawabganj Zila Auto-rickshaw Shramik Oikyo Parishad Shahjahan Ali, Awami League leader Advocate Abu Nazar Hossain Khan British, president of Chapainawabganj district unit of Jatyo Party Advocate Nazrul Islam and president of the Chapainawabganj district unit of Shechcha Shebok League Advocate Mizanur Rahman spoke to the gathering. After the human chain, they gave a memorandum to the deputy commissioner.
